About this Course

This course is an introduction to PSAC conventions, the events at which union members make decisions about the union's priorities for the next cycle. This course covers the PSAC National Convention specifically, but much of the content is relevant to Component and Regional Conventions as well.

The pandemic has re-written the playbook for PSAC’s Nineteenth National Convention. The business of this convention will set the course for a shorter – but critically important – two-year window of opportunity instead of the usual three-year cycle.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, PSAC’s Nineteenth National Convention is taking place virtually. An orientation to the virtual convention platform and to the Virtual Rules of Order will be available to delegates and observers immediately prior to convention.

In this course, we will also look at some aspects of the Virtual Rules of Order and explore some key ways in which delegates can use them to participate in convention decision-making.

Course Level

Basic - Basic Courses are open to all PSAC members. They introduce a topic. There are no prerequisite courses and learners do not require any previous knowledge or experience in the subject. The knowledge and skills learners gain will prepare them to participate in our union and to take further education.
